President’s Vision
To build an inclusive, forward-looking APSI that empowers its younger members, honours experience, and advances excellence in Plastic Surgery for the benefit of patients and society.
President’s Message
Dear Members of the Association of Plastic Surgeons of India,
It is a privilege to address you as President of APSI.
Our association represents not only the growth of Plastic Surgery in India, but also the shared values of excellence, service, education, and ethical practice that bind us together as a professional community. As our specialty continues to evolve—scientifically, technologically, and socially—it is essential that APSI remains progressive, inclusive, and responsive to the needs of all its members.
To our younger members, trainees, and those who have recently completed their postgraduate training, I would like to especially say this: you are the future of our specialty. Your energy, ideas, questions, and aspirations are vital to the continued relevance and growth of APSI. As you enter the specialty at an exciting yet challenging time, the association looks forward to walking alongside you as you take your first steps as independent plastic surgeons. APSI must be a platform where you feel supported, heard, and mentored—encouraged to grow not only as skilled surgeons, but also as thoughtful professionals and leaders of tomorrow. Your curiosity, commitment, and fresh perspectives will help shape the future of our specialty, and APSI remains committed to supporting your academic and professional journey.
At the same time, the wisdom, experience, and guidance of our senior members remain the foundation on which our specialty stands. True progress occurs when experience and fresh perspectives work together in an atmosphere of mutual respect, shared learning, and open dialogue.
I am also acutely aware of the concerns many members have regarding cross-practice and professional encroachment by other specialties, which can create uncertainty and anxiety—particularly for younger surgeons establishing their careers. These challenges are real. APSI is actively working towards addressing them through structured advocacy, engagement with regulatory bodies, dialogue with stakeholders, and efforts aimed at safeguarding the professional domain and standards of Plastic Surgery in India. While solutions require persistence and collective effort, please be assured that this remains a priority for the association.
The coming period offers us an opportunity to strengthen academic engagement, enhance training and mentorship, encourage collaboration across regions and subspecialties, and uphold the highest standards of patient care. APSI’s strength lies in the active participation of its members, and I warmly invite all of you—senior and junior alike—to share your thoughts, ideas, and concerns. Open communication and collective engagement will be key as we look ahead and work together for the continued growth of our specialty and our association.
I thank you for your commitment to Plastic Surgery and to APSI, and I look forward to a period of meaningful engagement, steady progress, and shared purpose.
With warm regards,
Dr. Vinita Puri
President, Association of Plastic Surgeons of India
